Junior Web Engineer

We’re a fast-moving, top-tier VC-funded Silicon Valley startup building ambitious systems that interact directly with real-world websites and modern web applications. We’re looking for junior engineers who thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and care deeply about craft.

You’ll build and maintain production-quality, frontend-facing systems that work close to the browser. You’ll work end-to-end – from evaluating how complex web pages behave in real environments, to understanding how resilient DOM interactions are built – developing strong instincts around performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Build production-quality systems that interact with live, real-world web pages
• Inspect, evaluate, and reason about complex HTML, CSS, and DOM structures
• Debug browser behavior, rendering issues, and client-side edge cases
• Work directly with HTTP requests, APIs, responses, headers, cookies, and sessions
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers to ship reliable, maintainable systems
• Iterate quickly, learn fast, and take ownership of increasing scope over time

• Strong fundamentals in HTML and CSS, and how browsers interpret them
• Solid understanding of how the DOM is constructed and updated
• Strong understanding of using CSS and XPath to identify specific elements
• Working knowledge of HTTP and browser networking
• A developer mindset: you enjoy debugging, reasoning about systems, and writing production-quality code
• Curiosity and comfort operating with incomplete information

• JavaScript experience, especially around async behavior or browser execution
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
• Exposure to scraping, crawling, or web integration systems
• Prior startup experience or side projects involving web automation or inspection

• Bias to action: short feedback loops, fast iteration, reversible decisions
• Pragmatic quality: correctness, resilience, and maintainability over ceremony
• Written thinking: clear notes, code comments, and shared context
• High ownership: juniors ship real systems, not toy tasks
